Financial Advisor, Assante Financial Management Ltd.

Along with his wife Vivian, Jim co-founded Truesdale Financial Group with a vision to build deep, long-term relationships with clients by providing comprehensive wealth management services in an independent setting.  Over 20 years later, Jim continues to deliver on that vision by leveraging his breadth of expertise in financial and estate planning, investment and risk management, tax optimization, and business integration.

As a 3^rd generation Calgarian, Jim has provided time and resources to a number of charities in the local area that focus on children, education, the economically challenged and pediatric healthcare.  Among other roles, he has been a guest lecturer at the Haskayne School of Business and is a past director and chair of the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation.

When not in the office, Jim has enjoyed watching both of his children grow up and develop into multi-sport student athletes.  He currently takes great pride in following his children in their pursuit of careers in medicine and engineering.

Operations, Assante Financial Management Ltd.

As a Chartered Professional Accountant, Vivian leverages a depth of financial reporting, business planning, tax, and risk management experience to ensure the firm runs smoothly.  With responsibilities ranging from financial reporting, risk management and technology implementations, Vivian is responsible for the overall operations of Truesdale Financial Group.

While becoming a Chartered Professional Accountant, Vivian was the proud recipient of numerous accolades including the Gold Medal from the University of Calgary’s Faculty of Management during her undergraduate studies, as well as being awarded the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants’ Canadian Silver Medal and Alberta Gold Medal for her performance on the Uniform Final Exam (UFE).

Prior to establishing Truesdale Financial Group, Vivian’s experience included positions at KPMG as well as VP Finance and CFO of a publicly traded Canadian company.

Vivian loves being a mom and has enjoyed helping her kids be active and successful both in and out of school. Over the years, she has cherished the many adventures they have shared travelling as a family. Vivian also enjoys volunteering for a number of local charities, with a particular love for Christmas hamper programs.

Financial Advisor, Assante Financial Management Ltd.

Patrick brings 17 years of wealth management experience to Truesdale Financial Group.  A Chartered Financial Analyst with demonstrated expertise in financial planning and portfolio management, Patrick works closely with clients to articulate their financial goals and then builds wealth planning strategies to meet these objectives.

Patrick’s early career was spent building knowledge and experience in a retail brokerage setting.  As his skills and credentials progressed, he moved into increasingly senior positions, culminating with discretionary portfolio management for high net worth families.  Patrick’s role with Truesdale Financial Group allows him to provide holistic wealth management to a variety of clients.

Outside of work Patrick enjoys spending time skiing, biking, and hiking with his young family, and demonstrates his ‘Canadian-ness’ as one of his community’s ice rink volunteers, flooding the rink on cold winter nights for kids and families to enjoy.

Kari’s strength as a team member lies in the breadth of her investment industry knowledge and experience.  Beginning her career with a highly successful investment banking firm, Kari supported a team of investment bankers as they led IPOs and M&A transactions during the busy 1990’s here in Calgary.  Building on this experience, Kari rose to the challenge of becoming an Investment Advisor with one of North America’s largest retail financial services firms, successfully providing investment advice for a variety of high net worth clients.

After taking time out of the workforce to raise a family, Kari joined Truesdale Financial Group in 2016, working closely with clients to ensure all aspects of their financial plans are accurately executed.  Drawing upon her breadth of knowledge within the industry, Kari consistently creates value by exceeding the expectations of the firm’s clients.

Outside work Kari is highly involved in the equestrian scene, supporting her daughter (a junior national team show jumper) at tournaments and volunteering her time locally and abroad.  When not at the show jumping ring, she can be found cheering on her son at the hockey rink.

Joining Truesdale Financial Group in 2021, Sara brings a positive attitude and excellent relationship building skills.  Valued as much for her strong organizational talents as she is for her ability to quickly build rapport with clients, Sara effectively supports the day-to-day operations of the firm. Prior to joining Truesdale Financial Group, Sara spent 8 years as a key team member for a group of wealth managers at one of Canada’s largest financial institutions, providing essential administrative and organizational support.

Originally from the UK, Sara immigrated to Canada with her family in 2013.  While completing a post-secondary program in Business Administration, Sara apprenticed in a college marketing department where she quickly demonstrated her ability to take on increasing responsibilities.  Interestingly, Sara’s experience also includes 2 years leading a team of health care aides in a dementia care facility which further demonstrates her dedication to providing the highest levels of service.

When she’s not in the office Sara enjoys spending time with her family, cooking and baking, and coaxing her 9-pound Dachshund out the door for walks.

Simply put, Cathy is the heart and soul of Truesdale Financial Group.  For the past 20 years, Cathy has been seen by colleagues and clients alike as the person with all the answers.  Employing excellent organizational skills, a proactive mindset, and a comprehensive understanding of the firm’s operations, Cathy reliably serves clients’ needs through precise account administration and clear communication.

After completing her undergraduate studies at St. Francis Xavier University, Cathy headed west, beginning her career in Calgary’s oil patch.  Based on her administrative strengths and service orientation, Cathy quickly became indispensable as an executive assistant, supporting senior leaders and executives in both large companies and start up enterprises.

Cathy’s East Coast roots are abundantly visible in her friendly demeanor and love of community.  In the spring, summer, and fall Cathy and her family enjoy weekend camping trips where they spend time with friends from all over the province.
